We had a fantastic turnout for our first beach clean of the year at Pentewan Sands yesterday on a damp and gloomy morning. It always amazes me that so many people now are willing to give up their free time to look after our beaches. We spent a good 2 hours combing the sand and seashore and overall were very impressed how clean it was and most small pieces of plastic we found were tangled in the seaweed or wind blown into the dunes.
There has been a lot of publicity recently about the amount of dog poo on this beach since the Campsite closed and took their bins away. All I can say is there is a dog poo bin in the village or owners can take the poo bag home with them. It is absolutely unacceptable to leave it on the beach or around the buildings for someone else to pick up and as the beach is privately owned the Management is considering a dog ban if it continues.
We were thrilled to welcome our regular supporters and some students from Penair School and Frosty, a fanatical beach cleaner from Fowey. Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come and look forward to seeing you at our next one on 29th February at Caerhayes.
