“Castaways is a charming and beautifully different restaurant set inside an old chandlery, overlooking Mylor Yacht Harbour.
Being so close to the waters edge and seeing the amount of plastic and rubbish along the beach, we thought we needed to start making some small changes to help clean up our ocean.
We are really proud to have joined The Final Straw campaign and we have noticed such a positive reaction from our customers in the past few months. It’s lovely to see people so passionate about keeping our oceans cleaner. We get people dropping in rubbish they have collected from their dog walks, people telling us they have now started asking for no straws in places that don’t do paper ones. It’s amazing to see that one little change made by us has spurred people on to also start their small changes.
Castaways is a registered water refill station, and hope to swap out more of our single use plastics within the next year.
Castaways is open 10am until late on Monday through to Saturday and 10am until 5pm on Sundays (up to the summer season starting, where we will then stay open until late).”
